The Limehouse Link carries the A1203 in twin tunnels for 1.1 miles from The Highway near Butcher Row to Aspen Way, with a 30mph limit enforced by cameras and slip roads to Westferry Road. Opened in 1993, it's the main route in from the City. Like TfL's other tunnels, breakdowns inside are cleared under TfL's own arrangements. If the car needs to go south of the river, the Rotherhithe Tunnel bans vehicles over 2 metres high or wide and goods vehicles over 2 tonnes, which rules out a recovery truck, and the Blackwall Tunnel's northbound bore has a 4-metre height limit. The route is planned before the truck leaves. The car can go to a garage in East London, your home, or a dealer further out.

Can a recovery truck take my car through the Rotherhithe Tunnel to South London?
No. The tunnel bans vehicles over 2 metres high or wide and goods vehicles over 2 tonnes, which includes a recovery truck. We route another way, and the price we give you already allows for it.
