How we can help in Luton
Vehicle recovery in Luton
Junction 10 of the M1 is the airport exit. The A1081 dual carriageway runs about two miles from there to London Luton Airport. Junction 11 is the A505 for Luton and Dunstable, and Junction 11a, opened in 2017, links the M1 with the A5 on the Dunstable side. The M1 from Junction 10 to 13 is smart motorway, and the hard shoulder is opened as a running lane at busy times. If the gantries show a speed limit over it, it's not a place to stop. Use an emergency area or the next exit, and if the car stops in a live lane, stay belted in with hazards on and call 999.
The airport has its own rules for cars. The drop-off and pick-up zone is a five-minute walk from the terminal, charged by the minute, with a 30-minute limit and fines for overstaying. The long stay car park lets you drop off or pick up free for a short period, with a shuttle bus to the terminal. If your car has let you down at the airport, meet the truck in a car park, not the drop-off zone, and tell us which one: the terminal car parks, the mid stay or the long stay. The Luton DART runs from the terminal to Luton Airport Parkway station.
In town, the main shopping centre is Frasers Plus, formerly The Mall and before that the Arndale. Luton Town play at Kenilworth Road while their new Power Court ground is built in the town centre, and match days fill the terraced streets around the ground. The Luton and Dunstable University Hospital is on Lewsey Road, between the two towns.
Luton has no clean air zone charge. A recovered car can go to a garage locally, back home, or to a dealer anywhere in the country, and we price the whole trip before dispatch.

Recovering something other than a car
Different vehicles need different trucks and different handling. These explain how each one is done.
Luton recovery & roadside FAQs
My car has broken down at Luton Airport. Where should I wait for the truck?
In a car park, not the drop-off and pick-up zone. That zone is charged by the minute with a 30-minute limit and fines for overstaying. Tell us which car park you're in or can get to (terminal, mid stay or long stay), and where in it. If the car can't move, tell us exactly where it is and we'll plan from there.
Is the M1 hard shoulder near Luton safe to use?
Between Junctions 10 and 13 it's used as a running lane at busy times. If the signs show a speed limit over it, it isn't safe. Keep going to an emergency area or the next exit. If you've stopped in a live lane, stay belted in with hazards on and call 999, then call us once you're safe.
I got back from holiday and my car won't start in the long stay car park.
It's very common after a car has stood for a week or two. Tell us the car park and the zone or row, and send the registration. A jump start will usually get you home, and if the battery won't hold charge we can arrange a replacement in the car park.
Can you take my car from Luton to a garage in another county?
Yes. Give us the address and the quote covers the whole journey, agreed before dispatch, whether it's across Bedfordshire or down the M1 to London.
Do you charge more for airport collections?
We price every job the same way: where the car is, the vehicle, its condition and where it's going. You get one figure before dispatch. Any airport parking charges for your own car are separate and set by the airport.
