The two M11 junctions do different jobs, so tell us which one you're nearest. Junction 7 is the A414 junction and leads into the southern side of town, Church Langley and Potter Street. Junction 7a, close to Old Harlow, opened on 10 June 2022 as a new east-west link to get traffic out of the town and onto the motorway. North of the town, Junction 8 serves Bishop's Stortford and Stansted Airport, with Birchanger Green services beside it. South, the M11 meets the M25 at Junction 27; from there west to Junction 23 the M25 is all-lane running with no hard shoulder, so if you're heading that way, use an emergency area if the car starts to fail.
The A414 runs through the town from Junction 7 and on towards Chelmsford in one direction and Hertfordshire in the other. The A1184 heads north through Sawbridgeworth to Bishop's Stortford. Frederick Gibberd's new-town plan put housing estates, industrial areas and the town centre in separate parts of Harlow, so it helps to give us the neighbourhood as well as the street.
Work vans spend the night on Templefields and The Pinnacles, the two big industrial areas, and Templefields and London Road are also the sites of the Harlow Enterprise Zone. A cold start there can go wrong early in the morning. In the centre, the Water Gardens and the Harvey Centre are where shoppers come back to flat batteries. The Princess Alexandra Hospital on Hamstel Road has cars parked for long visits.
Two stations serve the town: Harlow Town, which was Burnt Mill until it was rebuilt in 1960 and has Stansted Express trains, and Harlow Mill near the old town. Both have commuter car parks.

Whichever you're nearest. Junction 7 is the A414 junction on the south side, near Church Langley and Potter Street; 7a is the newer junction close to Old Harlow. Give us your direction on the M11 too. If you're on the hard shoulder, wait behind the barrier. Stuck in a running lane on the M11 with no safe way out? Ring 999 before you ring us.
My work van won't start on Templefields. Can you help before the shift starts?
We'll send the nearest available truck and tell you honestly what we can do. Give us the unit or road name and the exact van model, as vans often take larger batteries. A jump or a replacement fitted in the yard usually beats a tow.
Can you collect a car from the Princess Alexandra Hospital?
Yes. Tell us which car park and the nearest entrance. If it's a flat battery, a jump start or new battery fitted where it's parked may mean it doesn't need to move.
