Vehicle recovery in Liverpool
The M62 ends at Junction 4 on Queens Drive, the city's A5058 ring road, and traffic carries on into town along Edge Lane. The M57, the outer ring, runs ten miles from the Tarbock interchange with the M62 up past Huyton and Kirkby to Switch Island near Aintree, where it meets the M58 and the A5036. Aintree University Hospital is in Fazakerley, and the M57 is one of the main routes to Aintree Racecourse.
The A5036 is the dock road. North of the city it runs from Switch Island to the port at Seaforth as Dunnings Bridge Road and Church Road; along the waterfront it becomes Regent Road, then the Strand. The A59 heads north out of the centre as Scotland Road and over the Queens Drive flyover at Walton.
The Mersey tunnels have their own rules. Queensway, to Birkenhead, and Kingsway, which carries the A59 to Wallasey, are run by Merseytravel and have their own police force. A vehicle that stops inside either tunnel is moved out by the tunnels' own team to a safe place at one of the entrances, and Merseytravel charges for that. From there, you arrange onward recovery. We can't collect from inside a tunnel, but once you've been taken to the entrance, call us and we'll pick the vehicle up.
In the centre, Liverpool ONE has a 3,000-space underground car park reached by ramps from Strand Street, plus a multi-storey on Liver Street. Mount Pleasant, Victoria Street and Moorfields are other large car parks where cars often won't start. The Royal Liverpool University Hospital moved into its new building on the Prescot Street site in 2022. We can take the vehicle to a garage in the city, back to your home, or through the tunnel to the Wirral.

My car's broken down in the Queensway tunnel. Can you come and get it?
Not from inside the tunnel. The Mersey tunnels have their own team and police, and they'll move your vehicle out to a safe place at one of the entrances, either the Liverpool or the Wirral side. Merseytravel charges for that tow. Once you know where it's been left, call or WhatsApp 07944 820302 and we'll collect it from there.
I've stopped on the dock road near Seaforth. What should I tell you?
Which part you're on (Dunnings Bridge Road, Church Road or the stretch into the port), which way you were heading, and a nearby landmark or side road. The dock road carries a lot of lorries, so get everyone out on the pavement side and away from the vehicle.
Can you jump start a car in the Liverpool ONE underground car park?
Yes, a jump start or a replacement battery is the usual fix down there, because a flatbed won't fit inside. Tell us which level and the nearest pay station or exit, plus the make and model. If it's more than a battery, we'll talk through getting it up to street level.
Can you take my car from Liverpool to a garage on the Wirral?
Yes. The truck uses the tunnels like any other vehicle. Give us the garage's address when you call, and the price we agree covers the full journey.
