The M6 passes the east side of the city. Junction 29 at Bamber Bridge is where the M65 begins, Junction 30 at Blacow Bridge is where the M61 joins, Junction 31 at Samlesbury meets the A59, and Junction 32 at Broughton is where the M55 heads off to Blackpool. Between 31 and 32 there's also Junction 31A, which only has a northbound exit and a southbound entrance. The M6 between Junctions 30 and 32 was widened to four lanes in the 1990s.
The M55 starts at the Broughton roundabout with the A6, and since July 2023 has had a Junction 2 at Medlar feeding Edith Rigby Way, the Preston Western Distributor, which runs down to the A583 near Riversway. Say if you're on the motorway itself or on the roundabout, because at Broughton they are easy to confuse.
In the city, the A59 forms the inner ring as Ring Way, with Guild Way to the east and Golden Way heading out towards Penwortham. Deepdale, home of Preston North End, is on the A6063 Sir Tom Finney Way; match days slow everything nearby. The bus station has a multi-storey holding around 1,100 cars, with more parking at Avenham and the Animate car park.
Royal Preston Hospital is on Sharoe Green Lane in Fulwood, on the north side of the city. If you're parked there after an appointment and the car won't start, let us know which car park. Deepdale Road and Blackpool Road are other busy routes on the north side; if you stop on either, the nearest junction or landmark is the thing to tell us. Not inside the building; a flatbed is too tall for multi-storey headroom. A jump start or a new battery in the bay usually sorts it. Tell us the level and the make and model when you call.
Can you collect from Royal Preston Hospital?
Yes. Tell us which car park and roughly where the car is parked. After a long day on a ward, a flat battery is the usual problem, and that can normally be fixed right there.
Can you take my car from Preston to a garage in Blackpool?
