Junction 9 is the main one for the town, meeting the A20, the A28 and the A251, with Orbital Park just off it and Eureka Park about a mile to the north-west. Junction 10 takes the A2070 and A292, and Junction 10a at Sevington, opened in October 2019, links the A2070 and A20 too. The Designer Outlet can be reached from all three. Operation Brock is used on the M20 between Junctions 8 and 9 when cross-Channel traffic backs up: lorries are held on the coastbound side and other traffic runs in a 50mph contraflow on the London-bound carriageway. It was in place over summer 2026 and removed on 16 August. When it returns, the contraflow has no hard shoulder, so a car that stops there needs a 999 call first. The Sevington Inland Border Facility, off Junction 10a, is now permanent and has space for more than 900 lorries, so heavy traffic around that junction is normal.
The town centre ring road was turned into a shared space in 2008. It's two-way with a 20mph limit, and pedestrians, cyclists and drivers share the road with no kerbs, lights or road markings. That makes it a tricky place to break down, so if the car will move, get it into a side street or car park.
William Harvey Hospital, run by East Kent Hospitals, and the car parks at Ashford International station are other common places for a car to fail to start. A recovered vehicle can go to a garage in Willesborough or Kennington, your own home, or a dealer up the M20. The price covers the whole trip.

Your direction, if you're on the main carriageway or a slip road, and the number on the nearest blue driver location sign if you can see one safely. If there's a hard shoulder, get behind the barrier. If the car has stopped in a live lane and you can't get out safely, stay belted in with hazards on and call 999, then call or WhatsApp 07944 820302.
What happens if I break down in the Operation Brock contraflow?
There's no hard shoulder in the contraflow, so stay in the car with your belt on and hazards flashing and call 999. Once the car has been moved clear, call us with where it has been taken and we'll collect it.
My car won’t start at the Designer Outlet. Can you come to it?
Yes. Tell us which car park and roughly where in it, plus the make and model. A flat battery can usually be sorted on the spot.
My car has cut out on the shared-space ring road. What should I do?
Hazards on, and if it rolls and it's safe, push it into a side street or car park with help. People on foot share that road, so keep well out of the way of other traffic while you call.
